Twin-screw recycling ABS pelletizer

Thank you very much for the trust and support from our Korean customers.

A year ago, we first met at an exhibition in Shanghai. The Korean client specializes in the research and development of ABS materials and has extensive experience.

We have had a lot of discussions with our technical engineers and clients, including technical exchanges, future development, and cost communication. The Korean customer was very friendly and enthusiastic, and also provided us with technical inspiration and suggestions. We are very grateful for his sharing.

During the discussion, the client wanted to recycle and modify some ABS on 3C/chip/memory. Finally, provide it to the local chip company to obtain corresponding profits.

Due to the production requirement of 50-80kg/h, we are discussing the MT36 model. To improve the quality of ABS particles, we suggest MH36 would be better, but due to budget constraints, we ultimately chose MT36.

The three most important questions in the discussion are:

1. ABS flake should be smoothly fed into the extruder.

  • Can feed smoothly. Because the screw diameter of MT36 is 35.6mm, which is relatively small, large fragments can cause transport lag.
  • The common flake size is around 1cm * 0.7cm, and we recommend crushing it here. A size of 0.5cm × 0.5cm is better.
  • Of course, the smaller the flake size, the more advantageous it is for feeding, plasticization, and yield. So, by repeatedly crushing and maintaining a small size, it can smoothly enter the extruder.
  • Moreover, the feeding barrel needs to be chamfered, and it is recommended to use an SK screw element for conveying the screw.

2. Does ABS recycling require 2 vacuum exhausts?

  • Recycled ABS comes from different sources and cannot guarantee consistent properties. So we suggest adding a vacuum exhaust, which is a necessary thing to do. It can effectively remove water vapor and harmful substances, and improve the quality of the final particles.

3. Why do we recommend MH36 more?

  • Because ABS is an engineering plastic, it requires higher torque, increases the pressure on the machine head, and improves the quality of granular products. Due to budget constraints, MT36 is still capable of handling all of this.

After a year of communication and contact, and a month of production cycle, today we tested and shipped to South Korea. Interestingly, it only takes 4 days for the factory to ship to Incheon Port in South Korea.

Finally, thank you to every customer for their trust and discussion. Growth is mutual.
