Types Of Extruder Heaters

resistance heating

  • Cast iron heater: low price, fast heating, relatively stable
  • Cast aluminum heater: a common heater with good thermal conductivity, uniform temperature, and high cost-effectiveness.
  • Cast copper heater: Widely used, copper has excellent thermal conductivity and precise temperature control.
  • Ceramic heater: Using ceramic as an insulator, it has the advantages of high temperature resistance (up to 700℃ or more), corrosion resistance, and good insulation properties.
  • Ribbon (mica) heater: small size, compact dimensions, good toughness, easy to assemble and disassemble, commonly used in small extrusion machines.

Electromagnetic induction heating

  • The coil generates an alternating magnetic field, causing the metal wall of the barrel to generate eddy currents and generate heat.

Far-infrared heating (infrared energy-saving heater)

  • Direct irradiation of specific wavelength long-infrared rays onto the material cylinder converts radiant energy directly into thermal energy through molecular resonance, which is commonly used in precision extrusion or scenarios with high cleanliness requirements.

Heating rod heating

  • The material is a high-temperature alloy, which is highly durable, heats up quickly, and maintains precise temperature control. In the early stages, the processing and drilling of the cylinder require high precision.

 

How To Choose An Extruder Heater

  • Conventional plastic extrusion (PP, PE, ABS, PLA, etc.): cast aluminum heater, offering the best cost-performance ratio; for those emphasizing high efficiency, a copper heater can be used.
  • High-temperature engineering plastics (PEEK, PTFE, etc.): heating rods, ceramic heaters
  • Low temperature with minimal temperature fluctuation: liquid heating (hot oil circulation)

For customizing a heater, please provide some necessary parameters and details.

Cylindrical heater

  1. Dimensions of the electric heating coil: Inner diameter (mm) Height (mm) 2. Voltage: such as 380V, 240V, 230V, 220V, 110V, 36V, 24V, 9V, etc
  2. Power: We generally work with a power density of 3-5 watts per square centimeter
  3. For special requirements, please contact the seller. Holes can be drilled: square holes, round holes.
  4. Outlet methods: ceramic connectors, high-temperature wires, screw outlet plugs, etc., flexible and versatile
  5. Material selection: cast aluminum, cast copper, etc

Square heater

  1. Confirm the dimensions, including length, width, height, and thickness
  2. Heating power: 800w, 1000w or other options
  3. Hole drilling: square and round holes (commonly used for thermocouples)
  4. Material selection: cast aluminum, cast copper, etc
